Dance/Movement Therapy Alternate Route Courses
These courses have been approved by the American Dance Therapy Association as meeting requirements for the Alternate Route R-DMT credential.
All classes are held in small groups, either in person or on Zoom, providing an experiential exposure to Dance/Movement Therapy theory and practice.

The institute offers five different 45-hour intensive courses: four in DMT Theory and Practice and one in DMT Group Process. These five courses complete the DMT Group Process requirement and 180 course hours of the 270 Theory and Practice hours required for R-DMT certification. Readings and writing assignments to enhance experiential learning are sent to students one month before the course begins. All courses are held as small (currently online) cohorts, with students dancing for self-discovery and skill-building through a rich academic/experiential learning process.

I felt a very personal connection and gained genuine life insights while moving in this course's content. I found the movement didactics in this course to be very rich in applied learning and scaffolding; discussing, collaborating, embodying, and witnessing with classmates were also wonderful parts. I absolutely loved the diversity (i.e. age / background) of your students, the volume of resources shared, and the physical work throughout class days.

This course was amazing. I must begin by acknowledging how grateful and positive this experience was for me. I began the course with a curiosity of what dance movement therapy is and if I would be interested in pursuing it, and I left with a beginning understanding of the elements of what dance therapy can consist of and a confirmed interest in continuing my journey.
